
On Tuesday, in a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, SP Charan received the Padma Vibhushan in his late father, S P Balasubrahmanyam’s stead. He was a legendary singer, fondly known as SPB. His prominent works were made in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.
The official Twitter account of the president of India wrote, “President Kovind presents Padma Vibhushan to Shri S.P. Balasubrahmanyam (Posthumous) for Art. One of the leading figures of Indian cinema, particularly the southern Indian movie industry, he was a top-notch playback singer in multiple languages” and with that also posted a photo of SP Charan receiving the award.
