According to reports, Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in Sudan has been held up by security forces. This happened a day after mass protests across the country against recently held military coup. Al Jazeera is known to be a renowned Qatar-based satellite news network.

This series of events takes place after the security used live ammunitions and tear gas to disseminate protesters blaming the military’s strict control over the region. The channel said, “Al-Jazeera denounces in the strongest terms the disreputable actions of the military and pleads the authorities to release El Kabbashi immediately and to allow its journalists to operate unrestrained and liberal practice of their profession without intimidation.”
