EU leaders disagree on ties with Russia

On Friday, at the Europian Union Summit in Brussels, France and Germany had called for direct talks with Putin. However, their attempts failed as a number of EU leaders remain skeptical about re-engaging with the Kremlin. The proposal came after US President Joe Biden met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva, Switzerland, last week. The leaders, mainly from Baltic Nations do not believe that there has been any change in behaviour from Moscow that warrants new talks between the two sides. In a statement, they said that “they will explore format and conditionalities of dialogue with Russia” but did not mention a summit.
