COVID-19’s core shifts once more to Europe.

Europe has once again become the epicentre of the epidemic, causing some governments to contemplate reimposing unpopular lockdowns in the run-up to Christmas, as well as stoking discussion about whether immunizations alone will suffice to contain Covid19.

Governments and businesses are concerned that a prolonged epidemic could jeopardise an already shaky economic recovery.

New fears about “storm clouds” over Europe, as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson characterised them on Friday, come as effective vaccination efforts have plateaued ahead of the winter months and flu season.
