The FBI said it knew that unauthorized emails were coming from a legitimate FBI email address to thousands of organizations about a professed cyber threat.
According to CNN reports, one of the fake emails sent from the FBI address asserted to be a warning from the Department of Homeland Security that the recipient was the target of a “sophisticated” attack. However, DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) confirmed that there was actually, no such warning. FBI announced, “Once we acquired about the incident we immediately amended the software vulnerability, notified our partners to overlook the fake emails, and confirmed the integrity of our networks.”
