Jakarta is now experiencing a critical phase of Covid-19 that has led to an elevation in the prices of oxygen. Indonesia recorded over 25,000 new cases and 504 deaths where only Jakarta files 9,399 new cases which is more than 36% of the figure across nation. With the number of increasing cases , shortage in equipment and services required is observed. In emergency cases, tents are made outside the hospital to make place for more Covid beds. The situation in Jakarta is very similar to that of India, during the second wave. Already dealing with shortage of oxygen , the prices of cylinders have tripled. While the country is yet to vaccinate more than 60% of the population , the country has recently granted the authorization to Moderna vaccine via World Health Organization’s Covax program.
