Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands, has recently been placed under a curfew. The reason behind this all-of-a-sudden curfew is the attempt of some certain protesters to storm the Pacific island nation’s parliament.
In an action against these protesters, the police had to use tear gas, local sources said. Reports also reveal that these protesters set alight buildings, partly burning down a police station and a hut near the parliament building. A police spokesman claimed that the protest might be a failed attempt to topple Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.
