According to reports, Taiwan has recently opened a representation office in Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital. Media sources think that it has done so to anger Beijing, China.

Taiwan and the city earlier agreed that the office will be named Taiwan and not Chinese Taipei. The latter is a word usually used in several other countries in order to not upset Beijing. The feud between the self-governing island and China is that the world’s most populous country asserts that Taiwan is a part of its territory and doesn’t have the right to diplomatic recognition.
