
Australian government has added Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin to its list of accepted COVID-19 vaccines, expanding the number of people who will be permitted to travel to Australia without the need of isolation. Besides Covaxin, it has also recognised China’s BBIBP-CorV vaccine, made by Sinopharm
This will have an imperative impact for the return of international students, and travel of competent and incompetent workers.
“Importantly, recognition of Covaxin, along with the previously announced recognition of Covishield (manufactured by AstraZeneca India, means many citizens, as well as other countries, will now be considered fully vaccinated on entry to Australia,” the High Commissioner added in the tweet.
COVID-19 vaccines are approved for use in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) after a cautious analysis and approval process.
