Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday strongly castigated the attack on Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur and said that their sacrifice will never be forgotten. “Strongly condemn the attack on the Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur. I pay homage to those soldiers and family members who have been martyred today. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” PM Modi wrote on Twitter.”My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of sadness,” he said.
Rajnath Singh, the current defence minister, also expressed anguish over convoy attack and affirmed that the miscreants will be brought to justice soon.”The cowardly attack on an Assam Rifles convoy in Churachandpur, Manipur is extremely painful and condemnable. The nation has lost five brave soldiers including CO 46 AR and two family members. My condolences to the bereaved families,” Rajnath said.
Commanding officer Colonel Viplav Tripathi of 46 Assam Rifles, his wife and son and four paramilitary force personnel were killed after terrorists ambushed their convoy in Manipur’s Churachandpur district. Moreover, Manipur terrorist group – People’s Liberation Army is suspected to be behind the attack on the 46 Assam Rifles convoy.
