The Ministry of Consumer Affairs(MCA) is all set to tighten rules on e-commerce as it suggested amendments to the Consumer Protection (E-commerce) Rules, 2020, which will impose a ban on ‘flash sale’. E-commerce firms are expected to appoint a Chief Compliance Officer and a Resident Grievance Officer, who should be employee of e-commerce firm and citizen of India, until July 6, 2021. Flipkart and Amazon India are undergoing an investigation from CCI, for alleged abuse of the market, says the report of Mint. According to new rules, marketplaces will also have to identify goods based on their country of origin.
